Kansas City CC-TF May Convening Summary
Kansas City CC-TF May Convening Summary

On May 3, 2024, Missouri Coalition for Children held a Kansas City-area Connected Communities - Thriving Families convening at Crittenton Children's Center. MCC led conversations about the positive ways this group could impact children in the Jackson County area, reviewed CC-TF goals and delivered an update about CC-TF work statewide. The group then divided into two groups to discuss priority areas "Ask and listen to families about what they need" and "Increase access and availability." In addition to outlining individual organizational actions, the group also established key next steps:

  • Commit your organization or yourself to a couple of actions to move CC-TF forward – Who do you need support from? What key partners can support your actions?
  • Learn about and seek out preventative resources in your community, and promote these resources within your spheres of influence
  • Identify and connect with community leaders to build trust and find out what the community’s needs are
  • Update mandated reporting training throughout organizations and schools to connect struggling families with resources
  • Work on building a framework for best well-being practices
